Dialogue with a Digital Muse

16” x 20”, Dialogue with a Digital Muse, 2023

Artist Statement

Every artist has their muse. For this painting, which bows to the lush traditions of the Dutch Masters, my muse was a ghost in the machine. I entered into a dialogue with Artificial Intelligence, studying not the flowers it rendered, but the strange and beautiful logic of its "hand." I found myself asking, "What can I learn from this non-human perspective?"

The process became an experiment in creative humility. My aim was not to replicate an AI-generated image, but to learn from its approach—to study how the algorithm built form, layered color, and fragmented light. This painting is my attempt to translate that "digital dialect" into the physical language of paint, emulating its logic with my own soulful brushstrokes.

This journey blurred the lines between creator and reference, between human touch and algorithmic suggestion. It left me with a lingering question: Are we ever truly original, or are we all just admiring echoes of one another? This piece is my answer—a vibrant, textured collaboration between my spirit and a new kind of creative partner. It is a testament to the idea that all art, regardless of the source, can be an act of admiration—a continuous chain of learning from all that has come before us.
